Energy Performance Certificates (EPCs)
The coalition Government announced that Home Information Packs will no longer be required but In a bid to support greener housing, the Energy Performance Certificate (EPC) will remain. Bartrop and Dilks Property Services will organise and arrange for a domestic energy assessor to visit your home to carry out and complete all the necessary information required to complete the EPC. EPC's are designed to inform home buyers about a property's Energy Efficiency, by using A to G ratings, similar to those used currently to rate fridges and washing machines. The EPC will reflect the most efficient homes, which have the lowest running costs. The EPC will also include an additional rating which is intended to indicate what impact the home has upon the environment. The Higher rated, 'eco friendly' homes should have less impact through Carbon Dioxide emissions. The most efficient homes which have the lowest running costs will rate in band A. However the average property in the UK will rate between Bands D and E for both ratings. The EPC will also include recommendations about ways in which improvements can be made to enhance a home's energy efficiency to help save money and help the environment.
